An important thing that I have learned is to never blindly trust any site or lesson without first reading it in its entirety and completing the lesson myself.
In doing the Grade 3 state legends project, I discovered that, although referred by a reliable source, I felt some of the state legends to be inappropriate for
children within the age group I was targeting.
In all of my lessons, I encourage students to strive for the highest quality product. A computer provides so much more than merely a keyboard. It is imperative that
students are comfortable enhancing their work, and are aware of the many options available to them.
I make a conscious effort to not stifle creativity while requesting students to meet requirements. I keep in mind that there are many ways to reach a desired
outcome, and I frequently have students teaching me new methods!
No matter the lesson at hand, the underlying theme for each class is problem solving. I can not stress enough the importance of helping
students to become independent problem solvers and confident decision makers. A computer is not a useful tool if it is in charge of the user.
I am passionate about my work and love my job. I am motivated by my students' love for learning and enthusiasm towards technology. Their endless creativity is a constant source
of amazement to me. I am fortunate to have such a position where keeping my skills current is fueled by their wonder and desire to learn.
